Diesel Motors from Mazda to Join SKYACTIV Line-Up in Mazda2
Powerplant offerings of the future modification of Mazda2 seem to have become clearer with today’s presentation of diesel 1.5-litre V4 of SKYACTIV-D kind.
Debut of Mazda2 also known as Demio is planned for the second half of 2014. Application of clean straight-four diesel engine will raise the vehicle to Euro 6 standard. The mill is equipped with a turbocharger enjoying a rotation sensor. Intercooler also added to the construction of the motor will cooperate with the turbocharger and work for quicker acceleration.
Partial elimination of mechanical resistance was the goal of Japanese engineers. Combustion also takes place at a new level due to the use of advanced water control and other equipment. Diesel engine with a volume of 1.5 litres delivers a rather modest output equalling 103 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.
Pending Demio is already praised for its frugality. The carmaker itself claims that the engine of the car will become a diesel Japanese leader according to this criterion.
