Delays with Mazda's Diesel Engines in America continue
Mazda was supposed to launch a Mazda6 powered by diesel engine in America in the second half of 2013.
Due to the issues with emission regulations this did not happen. Finally, the automaker coped with the problems, but the redesigned engine appeared to lacklustre to meet expectations of the clients.
We assume that there will be more delays, because Kiyoshi Fujiwara shared with Automotive News about the increased investigation of the diesel units as a result of the VW diesel scandal. According to him, this scrutiny will delay marketing of diesel vehicles for all the automakers in America. He also stated that tests will be harder as regulators have lost their trust in producers. Nobody knows about the new testing procedures.
Fujiwara assures that Mazda will launch a diesel offering in the U.S. anyway. Though, the deadline cannot be named at the moment.
Last year the company’s North America CEO told about the diesel engine’s delay. He explained that an underperforming unit would not bring good to the brand and the idea of diesel motors in America.
