Infiniti Scheduled 3-Row CUV Based on Mercedes GLA
Based on a fresh platform being manufactured in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti is going to bring a 7-seat crossover into its lineup.
The platform which the automakers are mutually working on, known privately as JC1, can support up to 10 different body styles, 3 of which interest Infiniti. Those are a small hatchback to substitute the Q30, a 4-door compact sedan to take on the Audi A3 and finally a fresh 7-seat crossover that will essentially be a long-wheelbase variant of the Mercedes GLA.
The recently uncovered Infiniti Q30 Concept is the first car to result from the Mercedes-Infiniti cooperation, though it shows what is happening on the compact side of things. The platform is supposed to be done by 2017, and it will also underpin the next-gen of Mercedes A-Class and B-Class.
All the Infiniti units based on this platform are going to be constructed in Mexico.
