Chevrolet Volt Low Demand in April, Leaf Sales Go High
The Nissan Leaf topped sales a second month while the Chevrolet Volt went down 11 % in April.
In April, Volt sales declined to 1,306, overall sales are up just 3.2 % for the year. However, Leaf sales boosted 420 % over last April to 1,937. Despite the successful April, March was even better for the Leaf, when it delivered 2,236 units.
This year, Nissan reduced the price of its base-vehicle Leaf by 18 % to $28,800, certainly helping it boost sales the last few months. Leaf sales stay a frustration for the Japanese brand.
GM North American Head Mark Reuss informed last month that the Leaf’s cost cut made an impact on Volt sales. But the American brand is making no excuses for the Volt’s decline in sales.
Nevertheless, both brands agree on one the same thing: there’s much interest in EVs, just not a lot of customers.
