Introducing the 2,000-HP Electric Corvette of Tomorrow

While Chevrolet continues to break barriers at the Nürburgring with the Corvette ZR1X, its creative team is diligently exploring innovative designs that redefine the beloved American sports car.

Earlier this year, GM's advanced design hub in the UK presented a glimpse of this next-generation vehicle. This was followed by a remarkable reveal from Pasadena's designers in July. Now, at The Quail - A Motorsports Gathering in California, Chevy unveils another groundbreaking Corvette concept, potentially the most impressive to date.

Named the Corvette CX Concept, the 'X' denotes the number 10, referencing the legendary C10 model. Although Chevrolet doesn't plan to produce the CX Concept, it has affirmed that the design will influence future Corvette aesthetics.

The CX Concept retains Corvette's iconic features such as a pronounced front end, a sleek horizontal chine line, and dual-tail lighting. However, its intricate details set it apart from the current C8 production model.

Collaborating with GM's Motorsports Aero Group in Charlotte, the design team from Warren, Michigan, engineered the CX Concept's highly aerodynamic body. Equipped with numerous functional vents and air outlets, the vehicle optimizes airflow. Additionally, GM has integrated a Vacuum Fan System with built-in fans to enhance air intake through the streamlined bodywork.

Executive Design Director Phil Zak commented:

'Corvette's design has always been dynamic and forward-thinking, with each line paying homage to its predecessors. This project not only elevates the Corvette's legacy but also defines its future design trajectory.'

Like its predecessors, the CX Concept is fully electric, powered by four individual electric motors, one per wheel, eliminating the traditional V-8 engine. The impressive 90.0 kWh battery pack delivers an extraordinary 2,000 horsepower.

Departing from conventional door designs, the CX Concept features a fighter jet-inspired canopy that tilts forward. The interior boasts Inferno Red accents with leather, milled aluminum, and carbon fiber finishes. A yoke-style steering wheel with a central display enhances its futuristic ambiance.

In a departure from standard Corvette models, the CX Concept replaces the central touchscreen with a large windshield head-up display, integrating all controls directly into the steering wheel.

Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo

For those seeking an even more extreme variant, Chevy presents the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. Tailored for Gran Turismo 7, this track-oriented version amplifies the standard CX with aggressive active aerodynamics, a lowered stance, prominent splitters, a large rear wing, and Corvette Racing's iconic black-and-yellow livery.

The CX.R is powered by a combination of three electric motors and a dual-overhead-cam, twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers 900 horsepower and achieves a remarkable 15,000 rpm. Coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the total power output reaches an astounding 2,000 horsepower.

While neither the CX nor the CX.R is slated for production, enthusiasts can experience these marvels in Gran Turismo 7, where both models will be available later this month.
