- The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport returns for the 2027 model year.
- Equipped with GM’s latest LS6 V8 engine delivering 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque.
- The new 721-hp Grand Sport X hybrid replaces the E-Ray, featuring an advanced hybrid powertrain.
Chevrolet has officially announced the comeback of the Corvette Grand Sport for 2027. After a brief teaser earlier this month, the full details have now been disclosed.
Under the hood, the 2027 Grand Sport is powered by General Motors’ advanced LS6 V8 engine. This naturally aspirated 6.7-liter V8 generates an impressive 535 horsepower along with 520 lb-ft of torque, and is also set to become the standard powerplant for the 2027 Stingray.
The LS6 is built with forged pistons and connecting rods, redesigned exhaust manifolds, and an updated lubrication system. It features a high 13.0:1 compression ratio, a 95-millimeter throttle body, and a unique tunnel ram intake design.
This engine is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Grand Sport includes Magnetic Ride Control as standard, a touring suspension setup, and rides on Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. An optional center-exit exhaust system will also be available.
The Z52 Performance Package upgrades the car with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires and high-performance iron brakes borrowed from the Z06 model. For track enthusiasts, the Z52 Track Pack adds carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon-fiber front splitter, dive planes, underbody strakes, an enhanced exhaust, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.
Grand Sport X Hybrid Surpasses Z06 Power
Alongside the standard Grand Sport, Chevrolet is bringing back the Grand Sport X variant for 2027, which takes over from the E-Ray. The GSX combines the new LS6 V8 with a front-axle electric motor and battery system derived from the Corvette ZR1X, producing 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque.
Together, this hybrid powertrain delivers a combined output of 721 horsepower, exceeding the E-Ray’s power by 66 hp and surpassing the naturally aspirated 670-hp 5.5-liter V8 found in the Z06. The GSX also features an eAWD system similar to the ZR1X.
Standard equipment on the GSX includes Magnetic Ride Control, carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires, with the option to upgrade to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires via the Performance Pack.
Chevrolet will offer a special Grand Sport Launch Edition featuring a Santorini Blue interior complemented by red contrast stitching, embossed headrests, a speaker plaque, and a distinctive steering wheel badge.
While official release dates have not been confirmed, the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport is expected to reach dealerships by summer. Pricing details remain undisclosed, but the Grand Sport is anticipated to be positioned between the base Stingray, starting just above $70,000 for 2026, and the $121,000 Z06. Given that the 2026 E-Ray starts around $110,000, the new Grand Sport could debut near the $90,000 mark.
Further information will become available closer to the vehicle’s launch.
