Teaser of All-Electric Audi Q6 and Reconfirmation of Q8 Flagship

Audi has shown the first official envisioning of the Q6, an all-electric sports utility car.

The computer scheme was presented at the automaker’s annual press conference. It previews a future competitor to Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and BMW X6 which will receive power from an all-electric powertrain. The vehicle will probably have a similar system as in the R8 e-tron. According to the reports, its range will be 185 miles (or 293 km) on a single charge. The innovated car will originate on the identical MLB platform as in the Q7. It also will have a 100 kWh battery.

As to the design, the innovated sports utility vehicle will fall under the influence of The Prologue concept. This was confirmed by Audi’s R&D boss. A report in Autocar states that the Q6 will not debut until the second part of 2017.

The producer has reconfirmed the production of another model, the flagship Q8 SUV at the same event. Hackenberg told that the offering will come and that it will definitely be something unexpected as it will be following the styling cues of the Prologue concept. It will take more emotional meaning and it will be sportier than the previous model. The Q7 will be a seven-seater and the Q8 will take form of a coupe.

Autocar says that the Q8 received green light and is going through a development program. Its sales are scheduled to start sometime near the 2017.
