Great Wall Reveals 2027 Tank 500 SUV With Hesai LiDAR and Deep Burgundy Finish

Great Wall has unveiled the updated 2027 Tank 500 SUV. According to the Chinese portal Autohome, the vehicle's official premiere and the opening of pre-orders in the Chinese market are scheduled for October. One of the key features of the upgraded model is the introduction of a new dark burgundy exterior color, for which the designers drew inspiration from natural landscapes of mountains and rivers, as well as traditional Chinese architecture.

The SUV's exterior has retained its imposing proportions and characteristic features that emphasize the model's status. The front end is adorned with a massive radiator grille featuring horizontal chrome slats. The exterior look is complemented by multi-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails, and chrome trim around the side windows. The overall length of the Tank 500 is 5,078 millimeters with a wheelbase of 2,850 millimeters, while the minimum ground clearance reaches 210 millimeters.

Significant changes have been made to the technological equipment. The vehicle received a third-generation driver assistance suite powered by a LiDAR unit manufactured by Hesai. Inside, there is a digital instrument cluster alongside a single unit that combines the central infotainment screen and a separate display for the front passenger. Cabin comfort is provided by a premium 22-speaker audio system, with some speakers integrated into the front headrests, while second-row passengers get a folding table mounted on the back of the front passenger seat.

The SUV's powertrain lineup remains unchanged. In its top-spec trim, the vehicle continues to be equipped with a turbocharged V6 gasoline engine. Additionally, the model is offered in two hybrid variants in the Chinese market. The first setup combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, a single electric motor, and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The second hybrid version is built around a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine working in tandem with two electric motors and a 3-speed transmission.
