BMW unveiled the electric iX4 crossover coupe with an 828 km range
BMW has officially unveiled the new iX4 electric crossover-coupe, which became the brand's third production model based on the Neue Klasse architecture and replaced the traditional gasoline X4 in the lineup. The new model retains the characteristic silhouette with a sloping roofline, a long wheelbase, and short overhangs.
The front end is generally shared with the platform-mate iX3, but the rear is newly designed. A distinctive spoiler is mounted on the tailgate, and an additional aerodynamic element has been prepared for the iX4 M60 modification. Standard equipment for the electric vehicle includes the M Sport styling package with original 20-inch wheels (wheels up to 22 inches in diameter are available at an extra cost) and blue brake calipers. In terms of dimensions, the crossover-coupe virtually matches the iX3, but features a reduced body height. Luggage compartment volume ranges from 490 to 1,600 liters, compared to 520–1,750 liters for the standard crossover.
The interior architecture is carried over from the iX3: it features the full-width Panoramic Vision projection system across the windshield and a 17.9-inch central multimedia display. A sports steering wheel is included in the standard equipment, while the M60 version is additionally distinguished by sports seats and an M Sport steering wheel.
At the start of sales, buyers will be offered two all-wheel-drive modifications with dual electric motors. The entry-level iX4 40 xDrive develops 374 hp and 520 Nm, accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, and is equipped with an 82.6 kWh battery providing up to 638 km of range. The iX4 50 xDrive version delivers 469 hp and 645 Nm, reaches 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, and covers up to 828 km on the WLTP cycle thanks to a 108.7 kWh battery. The 612-hp M60 xDrive variant will debut later, accelerating to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and offering a range of 777 km.
The electrical system supports DC charging with an output of up to 400 kW: replenishing the battery from 10 to 80% takes 21 minutes, while 10 minutes of charging adds about 387 km of range. Support for bidirectional energy transfer via V2L, V2H, and V2G protocols is also implemented. The launch of sales is scheduled for March 2027.
