Ram's New Mid-Size Pickup: Officially Confirmed

Ram CEO's Wish Granted

After much speculation, Stellantis has officially announced the development of a new mid-size truck model. While specific details remain under wraps, this confirmation comes after Automotive News reported on a memo from Stellantis COO Antonio Filosa revealing plans to produce the truck at the Belvidere factory in Illinois. The United Auto Workers union disclosed that production is scheduled to commence in 2027.

Overcoming Uncertainties

In 2023, Stellantis faced uncertainties surrounding the Belvidere plant, leading to concerns about future commitments. Nevertheless, they recently reached a resolution with the United Auto Workers union, which also involved the future production of the next-generation Durango at a Detroit facility and investments in Jeep facilities in Ohio.

A Smaller and Affordable Option

Ram's CEO, Tim Kuniskis, expressed a strong desire for a mid-size truck in response to rising costs. With the discontinuation of the 1500 Classic, there was room in the lineup for a smaller and more budget-friendly offering. The forthcoming mid-size pickup is expected to fill this gap in the market.
