Porsche 911 GT3 (2025) Sets New Manual Lap Record at Nürburgring

Porsche has fulfilled its commitment by establishing a fresh Nürburgring lap record for vehicles equipped with manual transmissions, utilizing the latest 2025 911 GT3 model. Leading the charge, factory driver Jorg Bergmeister achieved an impressive lap time of 6:56.294 in the six-speed variant. This accomplishment not only demolishes the previous manual-transmission Nürburgring record but also surpasses the earlier GT3's time, which was recorded with a PDK-equipped version.

The Dodge Viper ACR held the longstanding manual-transmission Nürburgring record for eight years with a lap time of 7:01.3. It's important to highlight that this record was set before Nürburgring implemented standardized timing procedures, which now require a complete 12.94-mile circuit. Prior to this, lap times excluded the short pit straight, resulting in a 12.8-mile lap. On this abbreviated track, the new GT3 completed the course in an outstanding 6:51.764, overtaking the Viper by over 10 seconds despite having roughly 140 horsepower less.

Additionally, the new record is 3.7 seconds faster than the pre-facelift 992 GT3's previous lap time.

"The latest 911 GT3 offers enhanced confidence at the limit compared to its predecessor. I was quicker through nearly every corner," Bergmeister commented. "We gained substantial insights from the 911 GT3 RS, especially regarding the chassis. The vehicle demonstrates increased stability over bumps and curbs. Furthermore, the eight percent shorter gear ratio provides noticeably more power to the rear axle during acceleration with the same engine output. Although the seven-speed PDK might have yielded a few extra seconds, the six-speed manual gearbox required more engagement during the fast lap, adding to the overall enjoyment."

The record-setting Porsche was fitted with the optional Weissach Package, which incorporates several weight-reduction features and carbon-fiber trim elements. Additionally, it was equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, the quickest available option for the new GT3.

This remarkable achievement stands out on multiple fronts and sets a record that is unlikely to be challenged in the near future—unless Gordon Murray Automotive decides to take it on.
