Toyota Unveils Affordable Seven-Seat SUV Spawned from $10,000 Pickup
The Birth of a Unique SUV
Toyota introduced the Hilux Champ, a small and affordable truck for the Asian market last year. It has now evolved into a seven-seat SUV designed for the Indonesian market. Developed by New Armada, known for their expertise in buses, this SUV is built on the Hilux chassis-cab rig.
With its rear cabin featuring two additional rows of seating, the SUV's exterior design seamlessly integrates with the original truck body lines, making it appear as a factory-built vehicle rather than an aftermarket modification.
Compact Yet Spacious
Despite its compact dimensions, measuring only 16 feet in length, the Hilux Rangga SUV offers three passengers comfortable seating in the middle row and two more at the back. While space might be limited, it provides adequate room for its occupants.
Powertrain Options
The SUV comes equipped with a choice of gasoline or diesel engines. The diesel option delivers the most power, boasting 148 horsepower. Enthusiastic drivers will appreciate the availability of a five-speed manual transmission, although a six-speed automatic is also offered.
Availability
The Hilux Rangga SUV, customized by New Armada, will be sold through Toyota's dealership network in Indonesia. It is expected to be available for purchase in 2025.
