Dodge Unleashes the Astoundingly Expensive Durango Hellcat Brass Monkey

In the year 2010, the Durango made its grand debut. Now, in 2024, it remains, pricier than ever before. While the base model starts at $39,670, one can now fork out almost triple that amount. Joining the ranks of the recently launched Hammerhead, the Dodge Durango Hellcat Brass Monkey is priced at an astounding $113,720 (excluding destination charges). Additionally, the Durango Hellcat lineup features the $113,325 Silver Bullet. Yes, there are three special flavors to choose from.

Determined to stand out, this super-SUV boasts Red Oxide paint combined with a Satin Black hood and 20-inch Brass Monkey wheels. Dodge spruces up the Durango Hellcat with black exhaust tips and dark calipers for the six-piston Brembo brakes. Inside, premium Sepia Laguna leather-wrapped seats with silver/sepia accent stitching and embroidered SRT Hellcat logos on the seatbacks await.

In an effort to justify its six-figure price tag, the Durango SRT Hellcat Brass Monkey flaunts a suede headliner and forged carbon fiber trim. Additionally, the latest special edition offers a "premium wrapped" instrument panel and a leather and suede-covered steering wheel.

Despite its jaw-dropping price, this hefty yet aging SUV is equipped with a plethora of features. From a sunroof and shift paddles to a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and seven driving modes, it has it all. Adaptive cruise control and a second-row console with an armrest are also included.

Under the hood, no changes have been made to the flagship Durango, as it retains the mighty Hemi Hellcat V-8 engine. This supercharged 6.2-liter beast churns out a staggering 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque, propelling the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in a mere three and a half seconds. It completes the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 mph.

If recent reports are to be believed, it seems that the Durango isn't ready to retire just yet. According to Automotive News Canada, the final Durango model will not be produced until mid-2027. When it eventually bows out, its spot in the lineup will allegedly be filled by a revived SUV version of the Stealth, a classic nameplate.

If it manages to continue until 2027, the Durango will have graced the roads for a remarkable 17 years. Another veteran Stellantis vehicle, the low-selling Fiat Panda, is also set to bid farewell in the same year after being available for 16 years.
