Skoda will develop a new Volkswagen Passat

Skoda Auto, part of the Volkswagen AG concern, will be responsible for creating the new generation Volkswagen Passat under the internal B9 designation.

The ninth-generation car will turn out to be larger and more premium, but it will retain a recognizable design.

According to the German edition of Auto Motor Sport, the novelty will be built on the modular architecture of the MQB, maximally unifying the car with the latest version of the Skoda Superb. This platform will first appear at Passat in China.

Perhaps the Passat sedan will give way to a liftback with a sizeable 5th door. There will remain the Passat Variant station wagon and the Alltrack off-road version with increased ground clearance.

The model will acquire an increased wheelbase and width, and the appearance will evolve. The interior will be more spacious and premium equipment. The motor range includes traditional gasoline and diesel units and moderate ones with plug-in hybrid units. In the future, Passat will have an all-electric motor.
