Mazda returns cars with rotary engines

The Japanese brand will be selling cars with rotary power units in 2022, which will be part of a hybrid installation.

Mazda will once again produce cars with rotary engines in the first half of 2022. So said the director of the company Akira Marumoto to Motor1.

The compact rotary unit will be us as part of the Mazda MX-30 miniature cross-country hybrid power plant. The unit will not become a traction element but will act as a generator to recharge the electric motors' batteries.

Marumoto added that road tests of cars with rotary units would start in January 2021, and from 2022 such cars will begin their sales.

By the way, now the Mazda MX-30 crossover is driven by a 100% electric installation with a power of 105 kW (143 hp) and a 150-horsepower 2.0-liter gasoline "aspirated".
