Developing of Volvo electric motors started

Volvo has opened a new research center in Shanghai, China, where the company developed electric motors.

Very soon, the automaker will begin to introduce its electric power plants into its electric cars.

Volvo is confident that self-developed electric motors will allow for improved adaptations towards electric vehicles and hybrid cars. The first to receive innovations will be the models that take the SPA 2 architecture. This platform will become the basis and large with medium-sized machines, for example, the new generation XC90.

The electric motors developed in Shanghai will most likely appear both from Volvo and from the Chinese concern Geely, which owns the rights to the Swedish brand.
