Two-Pronged Electric Approach From Volvo
Volvo wants to come up with 2 battery sizes in fully-electric variants of the XC40 and coming-soon V40 hatch.
He last hatch will ride on the same CMA as the XC40 powered by a line of V3 and V4 motors, a plug-in hybrid powerplant and a fully-electric mill.
The boss at Volvo R&D says that in physical terms they will have to fit the battery in the floor. However, CMA provides them with a good bandwidth.
There will be at least 2 different battery sizes offered for every EV.
The standard version will be more cost-efficient, according to the boss. It will have a slightly limited range. Meanwhile a more costly option will have more range and power.
Volvo’s XC60 Is Reportedly Set for a Substantial Refresh
The plug-in hybrid version may get a larger battery pack, potentially boosting electric-only driving range to nearly 100 miles.
