GTI, VW Is A Tribute To The 1st Golf GTI

The pocket rocket is just a concept for now, but it should be launched next year.

GTI, VW is going to prove that small packages can offer small good things (just like GT and Smart are doing with the ForFour Brabus and Renault is doing with the Twingo GT. Along with the philosophy behind the original Golf GTI, the feisty vehicle is announced as a near-production concept. It should reach the assembly line at the beginning of the next year. The Grand Turismo Injection treatment provides a V3 1.0-litre TSI motor with 115 hp and torque of 230 Nm.

GTI weighs just 2,198 pounds. With all this, it is considerably safer and faster than the 1,785-Golf GTI MkI. The vehicle under consideration is able to sprint 0-62 mph in 8.8 seconds. Its top speed reaches 122 mph. The GTI also features more aggressive body, larger front and rear bumpers, bespoke 17-inch alloys and rear spoiler mounted on the roof.
