VW US Sales are Down 4.7 percent in 2015

According to VW’s December sales, they have dropped by 9%.

The German producer revealed that 30,956 cars were sold in December. It is a 9.11% drop in comparison with the last year’s number (34,058 vehicles). For the year, the automaker’s sales have dropped 4.78%. 366,970 vehicles were sold earlier, now – only 349,440.

Golf sales have dropped by almost 50% last month (from 2,379 vehicles to 1,191). However, the sporty GTI offering experienced a 32.4% increase from 1,789 cars to 2,369 units. This means the sales almost doubled the sales of standard Golf. The Golf family had an increase of 93.9% for 2015. Totally, 65,308 vehicles were sold. Last year’s number is 33,675.

The Tiguan turned out to be sold very well. VW sold out 4,900 units. That makes a 131.6% increase in comparison with December last year. Then the automaker sold only 2,116 cars.

The new Passat dropped 56.4% (to 3,596 vehicles sold). Its sales went down by 19.1%.

Chief operating officer assured that they are very pleased with the Golf line-up that brings record-setting performance of the Tiguan last year. According to him, the brand is committed to regaining trust in it. Mark McNabb also thanked the company’s clients and dealers for loyalty and patience.
