Toyota and Kamen Will Create Revolutionary Robotic Wheelchairs

Toyota and Dean Kamen cooperate to offer mobility solutions for the disabled community. They are going to create the next-gen iBOT motorized wheelchair.

The Japanese producer and Kamen’s company based in New-Hampshire announced the agreements at the America’s 70th Annual Convention of the Paralyzed Veterans.

DEKA was founded by Kamen back in 1982.The iBOT should become a “revolutionary” motorized wheelchair. It will receive power from two sets of wheels. The wheels can even be rotated allowing the user to walk up and down the stairs, for example. Besides, the invention allows the one who uses it to rise up to 6 feet in height and travel in standing configuration.

The executive Vice President at the company announced that Toyota wants to support mobility solutions for all people. The automaker wants to help people in age and people with special needs along with contributing its experience and findings to the whole world.
