The Next-Gen 86 From Toyota Is In The Pipeline

Toyota is going to have at least one sports vehicle in the range for the foreseeable future.

The automaker has not confirmed it yet, but there is a little concern about the Supra successor in the pipeline. The producer stated that a next-gen 86 offering is being developed and will come out in 2018-2019. The Toyota Europe chief says that the GT86 (that’s the car’s name in Europe) will carry on. According to him the vehicle “serves a great purpose”. So, the producer is not going to leave the sports vehicle market.

The automaker has not made an announcement about this yet. Will it be cooperation with Subaru? The chief does not know yet. However, he said that there are lots of reasons for them to continue their collaboration.

A soft-top convertible of the current offering will unlikely happen. The company has showed off the 86 convertible concept several years ago and not much information leaked about it, just the rumours.
