Production of VW BUDD-e Concept

Good news for VW Microbus admirers. According to the reports, the BUDD-e concept will be produced.

CAR writes that the fully-electric BUDD-e concept that was introduced at this year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is heading to production. It will ride with VW’s coming-soon MEB modular electric chassis. In the interview with the publication, the automaker’s head of electronic development and the driving force behind the BUDD-e concept stated that they want to create a modular toolset and send the flat battery idea into serial manufacturing. One motor will be placed on the front and another one will be located on the rear. According to him, the Transporter and California will stay separate combustion engines.

The concept under consideration should look a lot like that. The exact date of its arrival has not been confirmed, but we should expect it somewhere around 2020.
