Volkswagen is developing a Battery with Range of 185 Miles

Volkswagen wants to upgrade the battery technology for its EVs.

Martin Winterkorn, the VW Chairman, gave an interview to Bild, a German Newspaper. He assured that the automaker is close to latest battery technology which will provide “a quantum leap” for the electric vehicle. The brand is making researches about a super-battery in Silicon Valley (California). This new battery is smaller, cheaper and has more power. Moreover, it can provide a range of almost 186 miles.

Recollecting the current Tesla Model S, which already has this range, and the Chevrolet Bolt, which aims at a 200-mile range, this lunge is not quite a quantum one. Despite this, the battery under consideration can really lead the charge for cheap electric cars.

Volkswagen disclosed in the end of April that they wanted to scale down their electric powerplant manufacturing. The automaker wanted to create a unified battery cell. If the company’s new battery can equip the VW and Audi families and its range is over 185 miles, then it can warrant the boss’ claim of being a quantum lunge. Expect the battery to equip the next-gen e-Golf.
