Expect Land Rover Discovery in 2016
The innovated 5th-gen Land Rover Discovery will debut in 2016.
The British automaker started working on the Discovery successor two months ago. Autocar assures that the company is almost done with the model now. A 7-seat offering will be released at first. It will be placed on top of the Discovery family of at least three members. This information was disclosed by Land Rover design chief at the Motor Show held in LA.
The Discovery Sport that is possible to obtain now will be part of the innovated range. The 3rd model will be a smaller SUV. McGovern, the design director, commented that they can go smaller with luxury. The brand can go below the current Discovery Sport.
The innovated 7-seat Discovery will take its origins from the same aluminium chassis underpinning the current Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. In such a way a big amount of weight will be saved in comparison with the Discovery 4. We remind you that it is equipped with the T5 ladder platform. An updated 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine will be the basic unit for Europe and the United Kingdom. A mild hybrid with a V4 Ingenium unit will be released sometime later.
