Expect Ford Fiesta RS in 2017 with 250 HP

Rumours about the coming-soon Ford Fiesta RS are emerging.

We remind you that the development of the Ford Focus RS has been finished. The vehicle will reach dealerships in spring next year. According to the reports, the American automaker will launch the Fiesta RS in order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the nameplate. Autobild, a German publication, writes that the Fiesta RS will receive power from the same 1.6-litre turbocharged V4 unit that equips the Fiesta ST. However, its performance will be boosted to almost 250 hp. Now it is able to generate 197 hp.

The Fiesta RS will also receive a more aggressive design. In combination with larger brakes and sportier suspension, it will be a rather cool and more affordable package. If you remember, the Focus RS will cost $36,605 together with destination. We have doubts if the Fiesta RS will need the four-wheel-drive set-up that equips the Focus RS.

Paparazzi spied a mule for the hatch sometime earlier in 2015. It was tested together with a Ford Focus RS prototype. The automaker’s Performance division is intended to release a dozen new cars by 2020. The Fiesta RS will take a significant position in the producer’s range.
