2027 Ford F-150 gains a 3.0-liter base V6 engine and expanded V8 options

The next-generation Ford F-150 is still a few years away, but before the all-new truck arrives, Ford is introducing several important updates for the 2027 model year. The most notable change is under the hood, where a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 becomes the standard base engine, replacing the outgoing 2.7-liter unit. Sharing the same core architecture, the larger engine produces an identical 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, though chief program engineer Kelly Kohlstrand explained that the increased displacement delivers an improved everyday driving experience.

Ford has also expanded the availability of its 5.0-liter V8 engine, which produces 400 horsepower. For 2027, the V8 can now be specified on King Ranch and Platinum trims, making the eight-cylinder powertrain available across the entire F-150 lineup from the base XL all the way to the Platinum. The remaining powertrain offerings carry over unchanged, including the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid, which continues to deliver 425 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. The 2027 Ford F-150 Raptor also continues with the high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost, while the Raptor R retains its supercharged 5.2-liter V8.

In terms of design, the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims receive refreshed grilles and updated wheels. The new styling features a wider split-bar design on the front fascia that is mirrored in the wheel designs. Building on an earlier collaboration on the Super Duty, Ford has introduced the 2027 F-150 Carhartt. Available on 4x4 XLT Crew Cab models as a $4,195 package, it includes unique anodized exterior trim and wheels, Carhartt graphics, a branded spray-in bedliner, and a two-tone interior with embroidered logos on the seats and rear map pockets, custom accent stitching, and a full-color logo on the engine.

The 2027 Ford F-150 Carhartt is available to order immediately, with deliveries beginning early next year at a starting price of $62,660 before destination ($65,455 assuming a carryover $2,795 destination charge). Overall, pricing for the 2027 Ford F-150 starts at $40,585, including the $2,795 destination fee, for the entry-level rear-wheel-drive XL Regular Cab, which represents a $500 increase over the prior model year.
