Possible Discontinuation of Toyota Avensis

By 2018 production of Avensis of Toyota might stop.

Avensis will be one of those unlucky sacrificed to the benefit of hybrid conversion for European market planned to be completed in 6 years, said head of Toyota’s European department.

Particularly, mid-sized saloon will not be turned into a hybrid. Its place on the market niche will be taken by the brand new car in the nearest future. Now another concern arises: should the next saloon and wagon be, as their predecessors, European-only, or should they also be available in dealerships of other regions?

Experts state that very soon the sales of mid-sized vehicles in Europe will experience the severest decline since 2004 with figures getting twice as little as 3 years ago. For the Japanese carmaker it will mean that Avensis will be moved in the area of 30,000 units when in 2010 almost 26,000 vehicles were bought. Probable year of discontinuation for the model is 2018.
