More Info on BMW X5 eDrive Concept

The upcoming concept of sports activity vehicle called X5 eDrive now has a new promo video showing off its plug-in capabilities.

Important remark about the significance of the concept: BMW promises to leave everything in its place for the production hybrid representing the third generation of X5 after the debut of the concept. Under the bonnet of such a car one should expect a turbo petrol engine with V4 and 2.0-litre capacity working in pair with an electric mill and a battery.

Fuel engine holds 2.5 times more hp than the electric one and together they manage to crank out 335 hp and torque of 442 lb-ft. Such output allows the car to reach a decent sprint for the hybrid – 62 mph are conquered in slightly more than 6 seconds if both propulsions are operating. Implementation of electric power only will last for a 20-mile drive with the top speed totalling 75 mph.

Release date of the production model has been known for some time now. October is the most likely candidate to welcome the vehicle that was dubbed xDrive40e at a Paris event. Customers will be able to access the car by the end of 2014.
