Japanese Release of Mazda2 Crossover Planned for 2014

Car enthusiasts in Japan will be able to buy a new Mazda inspired by Mazda2 minicar by the end of the year.

The results of sales year 2013 made it clear that among generally poor gains in performance of other vehicles the small crossovers managed to rise in sales by 7.2 percent. The new model will have a lot in common with the exterior of CX-5 and offer the customers an optional diesel engine.

Price tags for the novelty will start at $14,500. Apart from Japan other possible markets include Europe and, perhaps, the ones in less popular countries which start to appreciate the benefits of minicars. Mazda will also appeal to those opting for more spacious variants with the production of seven-seat CX-9 SUV which is about to start next year.

Major facelifts of Mazda2 are to be expected in the next model year. The company saves the dessert of further specifics for the summer presentation.
