2017 Deadline for Z2 from BMW

Sports cars remain in the headlines of BMW releases and another compact model might arrive in two years.

For a long time the German brand hinted at possible appearance of Z2 and now it has acquired more or less set time frames. Unfortunately, more detailed information will ease overwhelmed expectations as instead of a cabriolet featuring a rear-wheel drive customers are about to see a front-wheel drive offering reminding of Active Tourer release.

But it would not be BMW if it did not offer a decent consolation. Thus, for the next car the German company will utilize the basis of MINI hardtop and make it as light as possible. Preliminary figures mention approximately 2,500 lbs. Customers will be able to choose a V3 or V4 and get a standard vehicle developing nearly 160 hp. Specific modifications might make as much as 70 hp more available.

The sports car will see the world either in two or three years. Potential clients should be ready to pay minimum $30,000. It is not ruled out that BMW might offer an M derivative sporting double output of a standard model being 4x4. Z2 M badge will add nearly $20,000 to the price.
