Volvo Starts New Motors Production

Volvo has claimed that a new group of motors has began the production, ready to be implemented in vehicles as early as this fall.

The fresh 4-cylinder motors are designed and constructed in house at Volvo, and are expected to provide better output than today’s 6-cylinder models, while offering better fuel efficiency than the current crop of 4-cylinder engines. The motor family, cloned the brand-new Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA) are all constructed on the same line, in an effort to better profitable production.

“This sets up a milestone in Volvo Vehicles’ history. With our new motor family we are aiming on 2 additional important properties – driving experience and fuel economy,” informs Derek Crabb, Vice President Powertrain Engineering. “During the construction, the main point was our clients and what we wanted to provide them in regard to enhanced fuel efficiency, lowered environmental pollution and pleasant driving experience at a reasonable cost.”

The brand-new motors will be seen in vehicles as early as this fall. They are going to be equipped in the Volvo S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80. The new family of motors is going to be in both diesel and gas variants, as well as electric-hybrid versions.
