Toyota Prius Reaches 3 Million Worldwide Deliveries Goal

Toyota has informed that its Prius model has reached the 3 million level in worldwide deliveries.

Originally released in 1997 as the world’s first mass-manufactured hybrid passenger model, the Prius reached a peak when its second-gen vehicle made its premiere in 2003. But it was the 3rd-gen Prius in 2009 that helped make the car’s deliveries soar, helping create the Prius v, Prius c, and Prius plug-in hybrid versions.

Controversially, the Prius made its way to the market success of hybrid cars, and the Japanese brand will go on investing extensively into its Prius vehicle and hybrid technology. Toyota has informed that it will pour about $7.9 billion into environmental technology development which will feature a new research and development facility. The funds will also go toward upgrading its powertrain Development and production engineering construction, as well as its aerodynamics lab.
