Audi Q5 will be Constructed in Mexico

Audi has initiated the establishing of a new factory in San Jose Chiapa, Mexico, where it’s expected to create 3,800 jobs and over $1.1 billion (900-million euros) will be invested in the next two years.

Launching in mid-2016, the new factory in Mexico will produce the next gen Q5 SUV. Situated 2,400 meters above sea level on the Central Mexican plateau, the German brand is not only creating its highest plant, but it’ll be the most modern one to date. Annual production capacity will be up to 150,000 vehicles and the employment effect for the overall region should add up to 20,000 jobs. The factory will be built on an area of 400 hectares, almost the equivalent of 400 soccer fields.

“By establishing a new car factory in North America, we are setting up a presence on another continent that is vital for us,” announced Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG. “Hence, we are empowering our international competitiveness and consistently following the Audi growth strategy.”
