The second-generation Volvo C70 made its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September 2005 and remained in production until 2013. It replaced the separate coupe and soft-top convertible with one four-seat car equipped with a three-piece retractable metal roof. The roof folds into the luggage compartment, providing both an enclosed coupe configuration and an open convertible configuration. Pininfarina participated in its development and production. Its roof mechanism and body shape distinguish it from the first C70. The range included five-cylinder engines, with petrol and diesel availability varying by market and model year. Manual and automatic gearboxes were offered. Styling revisions during its production run belong to the same generation rather than a separate replacement model.
