Vauxhall Corsa I (B) gallery (1993–2000)

The first-generation Vauxhall Corsa, carrying the factory code B, made its UK debut in April 1993, replacing the long-running Vauxhall Nova nameplate to align with European Opel branding. Based on the front-wheel-drive General Motors GM4200 platform, it featured an aerodynamic, curvaceous exterior designed by Hideo Kodama. In the United Kingdom, it was offered as a three-door or five-door hatchback alongside a panel van variant known as the Corsa Van. Powertrain choices encompassed naturally aspirated petrol engines ranging from 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre Family 1 units to the 1.6-litre 16V powering the performance GSi hot hatch, as well as 1.5-litre and 1.7-litre Isuzu-sourced diesel engines. A mid-cycle refresh in 1997 brought visual revisions to the bumpers and grille, updated interior trims, the debut of an ultra-frugal 1.0-litre three-cylinder Ecotec unit, and suspension refinements tuned in partnership with Lotus engineers. Gearbox choices included a five-speed manual and a four-speed torque-converter automatic.
