The third generation international Toyota Previa (XR50 series) made its global debut in 2006, presenting a bold, aerodynamic silhouette characterized by blacked-out roof pillars creating a 'floating roof' visual effect. The sharp front apron was accented by stylized swept-back headlamps and a prominent character line running the length of the vehicle. Interior luxury reached new standards, highlighted by seven-seat models equipped with second-row executive Ottoman recliners featuring power-operated leg rests and a power-folding third-row bench.

Powertrain choices were headlined by a 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 gasoline engine delivering 275 horsepower mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, alongside a 2.4-liter 2AZ-FE four-cylinder paired with a four-speed automatic or CVT. The XR50 was offered in FWD and AWD configurations. Over its extended production run, the model received updates in 2009, 2012, and 2016 that introduced touchscreen navigation, LED headlights, and the Toyota Safety Sense active driver assistance system. Production finished in 2019.
