The second generation Toyota C-HR (AX20), launched in 2023, features futuristic Hammerhead styling and an exclusively electrified hybrid powertrain range.
The second generation of the Toyota C-HR compact crossover, designated AX20, was revealed in June 2023. Designed specifically for European customers, the vehicle is constructed on an updated TNGA-C platform. Its exterior aesthetics borrow heavily from the C-HR Prologue concept, incorporating Toyota's signature Hammerhead front-end motif, flush door handles, and distinctive two-tone paint options. The cabin introduces a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster alongside a widescreen Toyota Smart Connect infotainment system.
The AX20 model range is strictly electrified, offering parallel hybrid (HEV) variants with 1.8-liter (140 hp) and 2.0-liter (197 hp with optional AWD-i) powertrains, as well as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) producing 223 hp. The PHEV model utilizes a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion battery providing an all-electric driving range of up to 66 kilometers. Sustainable recycled plastics and animal-free materials are used extensively throughout the interior structure. The vehicle comes equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite, offering over-the-air software updates and remote parking capabilities.
