The second generation Toyota Aurion (XV50 series) commenced production at the Altona plant in Australia in April 2012. Derived from the Camry XV50 floorpan, the Aurion again received distinct exterior styling highlighted by a prominent multi-bar chrome grille, aggressive headlamps, and model-specific rear lighting. Cabin acoustics were significantly improved through extra sound insulation, complementing new technology including the Toyota Link touchscreen infotainment system, smart key push-button start, and advanced blind-spot monitoring.
The powertrain retained the refined 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 engine producing 272 horsepower, recalibrated to reduce fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions. The engine was paired with a six-speed sequential automatic transmission delivering power to the front wheels. Trims spanned from the executive Presara to the sport-tuned Sportivo ZR6 featuring body skirts and stiffer suspension valving. A 2015 update refreshed alloy wheels and interior trim elements. Production concluded in August 2017 with the closure of Toyota's Australian manufacturing facility.
