First generation Toyota Aurion full-size sedan (XV40 series) for Australian and Asian markets, developed on the Camry platform with unique styling.
The first generation Toyota Aurion (XV40 series) made its official market launch in Australia in October 2006. Built on the Camry XV40 chassis, the Aurion featured entirely unique front and rear exterior sheet metal defined by bold headlight clusters, a wide chrome grille, and distinctive broad taillamps designed to project an executive presence. The spacious five-passenger interior boasted high-grade leather upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, and an 8-speaker JBL premium sound system.
Powering the Aurion was a 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 gasoline engine producing 272 horsepower and 336 Nm of torque, mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. In 2007, Toyota Racing Development launched the high-performance TRD Aurion, featuring a Eaton TVS supercharged 3.5-liter V6 pushing output to 323 horsepower. A mid-cycle refresh in 2009 updated the front bumper air dams, front grille bar design, and LED rear light reflectors.
