Revealed in September 2021, the second-generation Subaru WRX (VB chassis) migrated to the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), delivering a 28% increase in overall torsional rigidity. Exterior styling featured prominent black resin protective cladding surrounding the wheel arches and lower sills. Engine displacement increased to a 2.4-liter FA24F turbocharged flat-four generating 271 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Drivetrain offerings include a 6-speed manual transmission or the Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) CVT with upgraded fluid cooling.
