Subaru WRX I (VA) gallery (2014–2021)

Unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, the first independent generation of the Subaru WRX (VA platform) launched in 2014, officially separating from the standard Impreza model range. Offered strictly as a four-door sedan with aggressive wide-body styling, it featured a reinforced chassis. Power was delivered by a 2.0-liter FA20DIT direct-injected turbocharged flat-four engine producing 268 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.

Transmissions included a 6-speed manual or an optional Sport Lineartronic CVT featuring manual paddle-shift modes alongside Active Torque Vectoring Symmetrical AWD. A 2017 facelift refreshed the front bumper design, updated front brake pads, and retuned the suspension dampers. Production concluded in 2021. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort.
