The first generation of the frame-based pickup truck with a striking design debuted in 2006.
The first-generation SsangYong Actyon Sports mid-size pickup truck debuted in 2006 as a natural progression and replacement for the brand's older utility models. The vehicle utilizes a rugged ladder-frame platform featuring independent double-wishbone front suspension and a durable rear setup, ensuring high load capacity. Under the hood, it featured a proven 2.0-liter D20DT turbo-diesel engine with 141–155 hp, while select markets offered a 2.3-liter gasoline engine mated to manual or automatic transmissions. The primary distinction from the base crossover was the integration of an open cargo bed while retaining a four-door, five-seat cabin layout. During its 2008–2010 facelift, the truck received a revised front grille, updated bumpers, improved interior trim materials, and an upgraded diesel engine. The pickup was actively marketed in South Korea, Latin America, Europe, and Russia, where it built a solid reputation as a durable workhorse.
