About this generation

The fourth generation of the Porsche Boxster transitions the mid-engine roadster to an all-electric powertrain with innovative E-Core battery packaging.

The fourth generation of the Porsche Boxster marks the roadster's shift to a dedicated all-electric sports car platform. At the center of its engineering is the proprietary E-Core battery arrangement, which positions the high-voltage pack directly behind the passenger compartment in the middle of the chassis. This layout preserves the classic mid-engine weight distribution, delivers an ultra-low center of gravity, and maintains the authentic low-slung seating position expected of a Porsche sports car.

Offered in a two-seat open-top roadster body style, the model incorporates advanced cylindrical battery cells providing roughly twenty percent more range and fifty percent faster charging capabilities compared to earlier production electric vehicles. Power is delivered by electric drive units offering instant torque and continuous traction through high-speed cornering and aggressive curb transitions.

Unlike previous generations powered by turbocharged and naturally aspirated flat engines, this iteration introduces acoustic feedback replicating a high-revving flat-six powertrain alongside the proprietary E-shift simulation. Rather than interrupting propulsion to simulate gear shifts, the system momentarily triggers a calibrated overboost surge, providing physical shift sensations while maintaining seamless acceleration and sports car handling poise.
