About this generation

The Pagani Huayra hypercar succeeded the Zonda, introducing an innovative carbotanium monocoque and a twin-turbo V12 engine.

The Pagani Huayra is a mid-engine hypercar that debuted in 2011 as the successor to the legendary Zonda. The vehicle is built on an all-new platform featuring a carbon-titanium monocoque (carbotanium) and was produced in coupé and roadster body styles. The powertrain utilizes a bespoke 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine (M158) developed by Mercedes-AMG, producing over 700 horsepower and a massive 1,000 Nm of torque, transmitted to the rear wheels via a 7-sequential transmission. The primary engineering shift compared to its naturally aspirated predecessor was the adoption of forced induction, alongside the introduction of advanced active aerodynamics featuring four independent movable flaps. Over its production run, the model spawned numerous extreme modifications and special editions, such as the BC and Roadster BC, focused on track-oriented performance. The car was distributed globally, including the United States, marking the first time a Pagani model was fully homologated for the American market due to compliance with local safety and environmental regulations.
