Sole generation of the luxury MPV Mercedes-Benz Viano (W639), produced from 2003 until 2014 prior to being succeeded by the V-Class.
The Mercedes-Benz Viano (chassis code W639) was launched in 2003 as the dedicated passenger luxury MPV succeeding the first-generation V-Class. Built on a rear-wheel-drive architecture with optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the Viano was available in three body lengths alongside the Marco Polo camper model.
The cabin emphasized luxury shuttle and executive transport functionality, offering rail-mounted swiveling seats, fold-out tables, and rear air suspension. Powertrains included 2.1-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesels alongside 3.2/3.5-liter V6 gasoline units. A 2010 update refined the suspension, improved cabin acoustic insulation, and restyled headlights. Production ended in 2014.
