Maserati Sebring II (Tipo AM101/10) gallery (1965–1968)
The second series of the Maserati Sebring grand tourer, introducing refreshed Vignale styling and larger six-cylinder engines.
The Maserati Sebring Series II, known internally as the Tipo AM101/10, entered production in 1965 as an extensive evolution of the original design. Carrozzeria Vignale restyled the exterior with redesigned bumpers, redesigned headlamp bezels, a revised front grille, horizontal side fender vents replacing the previous vertical ones, and a refreshed rear end with updated taillights. Mechanically, the Series II retained the tubular chassis but introduced larger, more powerful variants of the inline-six engine. In addition to the original 3.5-liter unit, Maserati offered upgraded 3.7-liter (3694 cc, 245 hp) and 4.0-liter (4014 cc, 255 hp) engines, both retaining Lucas mechanical fuel injection. Transmission choices included a crisp five-speed ZF manual gearbox and an optional Borg-Warner automatic transmission. The interior received subtle updates to the instrumentation and trim. Targeted heavily at the American and European luxury sports car markets, the Series II was produced in limited numbers until 1968, representing the final evolution of Maserati's classic 3500 GT lineage.
