Lincoln Zephyr I photos

The Lincoln-Zephyr was introduced in November 1935 as a 1936 model, bridging the vast price gap between standard Ford V8s and the ultra-exclusive Lincoln Model K. Styled by John Tjaarda and refined by Edsel Ford and Bob Gregorie, it featured an advanced aerodynamic teardrop silhouette and modern unitized bridge-truss construction. Power came from a unique 267 cubic inch (4.4-liter) flathead V12 engine producing 110 horsepower, paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Available body styles included two-door and four-door sedans, coupes, and open convertibles. For the 1940 model year, engine displacement grew to 292 cubic inches (4.8 liters) generating 120 hp, while sealed-beam headlights were integrated directly into the fenders. A final pre-war facelift in 1942 gave the front end a heavier horizontal grille before all civilian automotive assembly ceased for wartime production. The model was primarily marketed in North America.
