Lincoln Zephyr II (CD338) gallery (2005–2006)
The revived Lincoln Zephyr was a mid-size entry-luxury sedan built on the modern front-wheel-drive CD3 platform.
For the 2006 model year, Lincoln resurrected the historic Zephyr nameplate for a new mid-size entry-luxury sedan that served as an accessible replacement for the aging rear-wheel-drive Lincoln LS. Built on the front-wheel-drive Ford CD3 platform shared with the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, the Zephyr featured distinctive Lincoln design cues including a chrome waterfall grille and rectangular LED taillights. The cabin offered upscale amenities with genuine wood trim and brushed aluminum accents. It was powered exclusively by a 3.0-liter Duratec 30 V6 engine producing 221 hp, mated to an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The vehicle was sold across North America. After only one full model year on the market, Lincoln implemented a new alphanumeric naming convention, updating the car with a 3.5-liter engine and all-wheel drive while rebranding it as the Lincoln MKZ for 2007.
