Lexus SC I (Z30) gallery (1991–2000)

The first-generation Lexus SC luxury sports coupe (chassis code Z30) debuted in June 1991 for the 1992 model year (twin to the Japanese Toyota Soarer Z30). Styled by Toyota's Calty Design Research studio in California using 3D clay modeling without traditional 2D sketches, it presented a fluid, aerodynamic body profile achieving a 0.31 drag coefficient. The cabin featured leather bucket seats, Optitron instrument lighting, genuine wood trim, and an optional Nakamichi sound system.

Powertrains consisted of the SC 400 equipped with a 4.0-liter 1UZ-FE V8 producing 250 hp (upgraded to 290 hp in 1997 with VVT-i) and the SC 300 powered by a 3.0-liter 2JZ-GE inline-six producing 225 hp. Gearboxes ranged from a five-speed manual on SC 300 to four- and five-speed automatic transmissions. A 1996 refresh updated the front bumper, grille insert, side skirts, and rear spoiler.
