About this generation

The first generation of the Kia Picanto subcompact hatchback, built on a shared platform with the Hyundai Getz and designed for urban driving. The model combines proven engineering reliability,.

The first-generation Kia Picanto (factory code SA) debuted in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and entered mass production in 2004. Built on Hyundai-Kia's compact front-wheel-drive platform shared with the Hyundai Getz, the car was produced exclusively as a 5-door hatchback. It offered a remarkably compact footprint with a length of just over 3.5 meters and a wheelbase of 2,370 mm, making it ideal for navigating crowded city streets and tight parking spaces while maintaining good interior ergonomics. This generation of the Picanto (SA) was produced from 2004 to 2011 and offered in хэтчбек body styles. Built on an engineered platform, it features strong structural rigidity, refined aerodynamics, and advanced occupant safety engineering.

Engine options for the first-generation Picanto included 1.0-liter (61 hp) and 1.1-liter (65 hp) Epsilon four-cylinder petrol engines, along with a 1.1-liter three-cylinder CRDi turbo-diesel delivering 75 hp for the European market. A major facelift in 2007 introduced rounded headlights, a redesigned front grille, new bumpers, and an updated interior console. A secondary refresh in 2010 aligned the front end styling with Kia's signature Tiger Nose grille design. The powertrain lineup features modern engines optimized for thermal efficiency, balancing responsive acceleration with economical fuel consumption. Power is delivered through reliable manual or automatic transmissions.
